Social Networks: Facebook for Business

Social Networks: Facebook for Business

The world of real estate prospecting has morphed into Facebook friend requests, tweets, chirps and fan pages. Instead of asking for your phone number to talk about your services, clients might instead request you as a LinkedIn connection or message you on Facebook to get updates on a transaction. Facebook is one of the largest social networking sites out there - and real estate agents shouldn't ignore that fact. But you have to make your impact on social network meaningful and relevant to your target audience; you can't post a bunch of listings and expect business to rain down on you like manna from heaven. Here are some tips to stand apart from the crowd on Facebook:
After you sign up
* Target your audience (past/current clients, other agents, niche businesses)
* Pay attention to what people are posting about
* Attract friends, followers, connections and subscribers
* Interact and engage with your friends and/or fans
Maximize your exposure
There are three types of accounts on Facebook: personal profiles, groups and business/fan pages. Also, you can place ads to targeted audiences in certain geographic areas for little cost.
Personal pages - Messages are limited to 20 recipients at a time with a personal page. There are strict rules about posting business information on a personal page.
Groups - Groups are set up for more personal interaction and are more directly connected to the people who administer them. Groups can be public or prviate.
Business/Fan pages - This is the ideal way to attract a public following. Here are some business page options:
Geographic area page.Create a page for your county or a specific neighborhood that is solely about that area and has no mention of your business. You'll get fans instantly and people won't feel pressured by seeing your business information on the page. Get people to interact on the page by holding photo contests, asking questions that elicit participation ("What's the best pizza place in town?" or "Where's the best hiking trail in our county?") and offering prizes, such as gift cards, dinner for two, etc. Get local businesses to participate; they'll be more than happy with the free exposure. To spread the word about your business, download a tab called FBML, which allows HTML on the page, such as a framed-in IDX search.
- Agent referral page. Add items of value, network with other agents at events posted on Facebook and share referrals.
- REO business page. Market your distressed property business and expertise to asset-management companies.
- Office or team page. Promote your office or team members, services and more with this page.
- Builder/condo page. Reach out to builders, condo associations and other groups who have a vested interest in these niches. Promote your expertise in condos, new construction and niche services.

How To Drive Traffic To Your Website Using Facebook Fanpage

Facebook Fanpage To Make Your Business Stand Out

Do you own a website or business? Are you on Facebook? Have you made a fanpage for your business/website/product? How many people "likes" it? And what does that mean?
Did you know that Facebook has 500 million users? YES thats half a billion!!
What does that mean to you? When a person sees your fanpage they look at the number of people who likes it. They judge you by that. Even if your company or business has a great appeal in the real world, this single fanpage with very less likes can make a potential customer turn away. Less people like it means it is less appealing to the public!
So, how do you get more people to like it? You can buy likes from spammers who are all over the internet giving you 10,000 likes and 1 million likes for any price they decide.
But is that what you really want? Most of these people who likes your page through the spamming methods wouldn't care to visit your website or know anything about business.
Then how do you get genuine likes? How to turn visitors into customers?
"An Appealing Fanpage"That's right you need a professional looking fanpage that will make the visitors want to like it. This will make your business/product/service or anything you are promoting through the fanpage "CREDIBLE" to the public. And more and more people will like it!!
See the pages of big companies and artists like
http://www.facebook.com/cocacola
http://www.facebook.com/owlcity
As you can see these pages are very attractive and appealing to someone visiting them for the first time. People likes them instantly. These are called facebook landing pages. You can create pages like this using Static FBML application on facebook.
A simple page can be created by adding some images and text like this..
http://www.facebook.com/2011.Friendship
http://www.facebook.com/owzilla
http://www.facebook.com/wieredlove
http://www.facebook.com/theres2morow
http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Knew-I-Loved-You-Before-I-Met-You/168013889909717?v=app_4949752878

Or a page like below with many subpages (a mini site inside your fanpage!)
http://www.facebook.com/FrndzCafe
As you can see in the above page the visitor is asked to like the page in order to see the content. This is a very effective way to get more likes!
But what if you need a more professional design like these

Create a Welcome Tab for Facebook Fan Page

On August 23rd (2010) Facebook will automatically resize all custom tabs to a maximum of 520 pixels wide.

Have you seen them? Blogs and companies with cool tabs on their facebook fan page? Like this one.Even if you don't have a fan page for your blog, I'm sure you have a personal page. If you have seen these cool tabs and wondered how to make your own... then wonder no more!

I am by no means a blogging expert. I have very little knowledge of coding but I did figure out a way to create a blog tab on my facebook page. It was super easy! Now that you are done with your welcome message you can save it. Go to File - Save As. Name your welcome message and choose where to store it in your computer. *At the bottom of the screen is a + Select File Type. Click the + sign and choose Gif, JPEG or PNG.* (I normally choose JPEG.) Click Save. A window will pop up telling you JPEG can't handle the transparency... that's fine. Click Export. This will bring up another window. Move the quality bar until it says 100 and then save it.

Next...
Log into your blog account and create a new post. Here you will upload any images you want on your welcome tab. If you have a custom blog header then I recommend uploading this image at the top of the page. (Blogger will automatically make your header small. Go ahead and make it large or Xlarge.) Underneath your header upload the welcome message image you just created in Gimp. It should look something like this:

So do you want one for yourself?

For this tutorial we will be making a "Welcome" tab but you can adjust the tab to whatever you want.

First...
You will need to open up an image editing program like Photoshop. If you do not have Photoshop (I don't) then you can download Gimp for free. I will be using Gimp for this tutorial.
You will need to create a new image about 520x600. (Go to File - New)

This is where you can write a welcome message. You may want to describe your blog, what it has to offer readers, maybe give some information about yourself. Whatever you want. To make a text box click on the "A" in the Toolbox Bar. Make the text box the size of your entire image so you can fill up the box with your welcome message. You can change the font, size and color all from the Toolbox Bar.

Next...
When you are done adding images, open up a new window in your browser (leave the blogger window open) and log into your facebook account.
To add the Welcome Tab to your fan page:
1. Go to your fan page and click "edit page". Scroll to the bottom and in the More Applications box click on Browse More. In the search box type Static FBML.Choose the application titled Static FBML (the top one in this picture).

2. Click "Add to my Page" and choose which page you want to add this app on. (Your fan page).
3. Go back to your fan page and click "edit" page again. Scroll down to the box titled FBML - FBML and click edit.
4. Change the title to Welcome (or whatever you want).

Last...
Click back over to your blogger window and the post you were creating. Below the title post on the right you will see two tabs: Edit HTML and Compose. Right now you are viewing Compose. Click on Edit HTML. Your post should now be a jumble of codes.

Highlight and Copy everything in the box. Click back over to your facebook window and paste what you just copied inside the FBML Box.

Click Save. Go back and view your page. You should now have a welcome tab!
If you want to add this page to your personal facebook profile or if you don't have a fan page then the steps are extremely similar. Just search for Static FBML from your home page. Choose your personal profile page when it asks you what page you want to add the app to. Then follow the rest of the steps above.
The easy thing about this is by creating a new post (that you don't actually post to your blog) you don't need to know all of the codes! By clicking Edit HTML, Blogger translates everything into code language for you!
